Ironman Australia Triathlon, Port Macquarie

The Country Energy Ironman Australia Triathlon is on April 5 2009 at Port Macquarie. There are a lot of Balmoral Tric Club members competing and also many going to support.

The 3.8km swim, 182.2 bike ride and 42.2km run is one of the most demanding races a person could ever do. Training for this even is a huge accomplishment in itself. Completing it is something that most other people can only dream of. The competitors who are heading to Port Macquarie on the weekend of April 5 will have a huge crowd of supporters and fellow athletes to cheers them on.

Top triathletes competing this year include Tim De Boom, Michellie Jones and Chrissy Wellington.

The Port Macquarie community will supply around 2000 volunteers to assist the triathletes on the day. This event is a great opportunity for Port Macquarie to promote itself outside of the normal holiday peak seasons.
